Cardboard Chair - SketchUp & Models
For my architectural design class I prototyped a cardboard chair able to hold my own weight using no other materials or adhesives. Pictured is my iterative process with a detailed design in SketchUp to plan out use of the three cardboard sheets I had and three models at different scales. Each subsequent chair I slightly changed the design and mechanics based on what Iād learned from the previous model.
The final chair utilizes a series of slots, tabs, and scored folds to fit together securely. Additionally, it has a storage compartment accessible via the flap on the top of the backrest which is secured by a dog-bone like latch.
Dimensions and Cutting Plans in SketchUp
